Art for the unsung heroes of our school community

The Year 7-9 Painting Club at Rugby School Japan recently embarked on a project inspired by the vibrant and expressive art movement known as Fauvism. Fauvism, characterised by its bold colours and dynamic brushwork, encourages us to see the world from a different perspective – one filled with energy, passion, and individuality. In this spirit of exploration and celebration of diversity, the pupils turned their attention to the unsung heroes of our school community.

These are the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our school runs smoothly every day. From the caretakers who keep our school clean and maintained, to our house assistants who look after us everyday, to our administrative staff who support our teachers, each person plays a vital role in creating a supportive environment for our learning and growth. By infusing each painting with bold colours and expressive strokes, the aim was not only to pay homage to their hard work but also to celebrate the unique personalities and contributions of each staff member.

The Art Club created an art exhibition in the dining hall which they introduced in assembly. The purpose being to serve as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of every member of our school community.
